A US court has blocked the removal of the Chinese WeChat app from the Apple and Google online stores, according to Reuters. The decision to block the app had been made by the US Department of Commerce following allegations that the app’s owner, Chinese IT company Tencent, was spying on US citizens and promoting propaganda in favour of China’s Communist Party. The app’s users claimed infringement of their right to free speech, prompting Judge Laurel Beeler from California to halt the proposed restriction.
